We’re pretty blessed living in New Zealand.
With our wide open spaces, sparkling oceans and bountiful forests, it’s a pretty lovely place to be year round.
But we’ve got to admit, a Kiwi summer is what we really look forward to while we’re enduring endless rain in August.
To celebrate, we asked 15 Kiwis what they love about the sunnier months here in New Zealand.
Long days at the beach and having fun with friends.
Picking fresh strawberries – and them eating them on the car ride home.
Music festivals near the beach – there’s nothing better!
Favourite things about NZ summer
Spending afternoons in the sun watching cricket. Yes, even a five-day test match!
Sausage Sizzles. BBQs. Pohutakawa trees in full bloom. Daylight savings.
Day drinking in the sun.
Camping with family and friends.
Getting a tan! Safely of course.
Lots and lots of swimming!
Watermelon!
Sitting under a Pohutukawa tree at the beach while the kids play.
Cherries! If only they would last longer than Christmas time.
Fish and chips with buttered bread and lots of tomato sauce.
Two words: Vineyard festivals.
Hiring a bach and getting all your friends to come and visit.
