Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson has revealed that he had to re-shoot some scenes for his latest movie ‘The Lovely Bones’ because early test-screening audiences complained that the death scene wasn’t violent enough! The famed ‘Lord of the Rings’ director, says he had to return to the editing room to “basically add more violence and suffering”. Kiwi bloke Peter adds, “[The audience] wanted far more violence. They just weren’t satisfied. We had to create a whole suffering death scene just to give people the satisfaction they needed.”

The film, which is based on Alice Sebold’s bestseller, tells the story of how a murdered 14-year-old girl (played by Saoirse Ronan) watches from heaven as her grieving family attempts to ensnare her killer. The New Zealand premiere will happen at Wellington’s famous Embassy Theatre on 14 December and will be attended by many of the film’s stars, including Susan Sarandon.
