Health news: Pins and needles in fingers

Numbness of the fingers is often the result of a condition that affects the nerves or the blood vessels that supply the hand. You may also notice tingling. These symptoms are called paresthesia of the fingers. Possible causes include:

  • Shingles

  • Arthritis

  • Being extremely cold

  • Hyperventilation

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Vasculitis

  • Peripheral neuropathy

  • Elbow pain

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Raynaud’s diesease

  • Diabetes

  • Pinched nerve

  • Peripheral vascular diesease
