Jacinta Lourdes and Jordan Tringas had a very powerful motivation for going on Dream Home – they wanted to have a third child… but they didn’t want to do it while living in Jacinta’s grandparents’ granny flat or in their own run-down house!
“Getting onto Dream Home allowed us to do what we wanted,” grins Jacinta. “To do up the house, move in and be comfortable – to be able to have a third kid and not question, ‘Can we fit in here?’ or, ‘Is it safe with all the asbestos?’”
The eyebrow specialist and her accountant husband, both 31, hope to welcome a little brother or sister for Amelia, six, and Olivia, three, “sometime soon”. The proud mum says, “We’re trying, hoping and aiming!”
This week on Dream Home, viewers will see the other contestants arrive at Jacinta and Jordan’s Sydney house ready to renovate – and then have to leave as builders discover just how rundown it is and how much asbestos it contains within the walls.
“We knew we had it, but not to that extent,” says Jordan, adding that they were also stressed at being at the bottom of the leader board. “It was all very deflating.”
Just as they’re starting renovations on Lara and Peter’s home, Jacinta becomes so unwell, she has to leave.
“Honestly, what timing for me to get sick?!” she says. “For some reason, I just couldn’t stop vomiting.”
Each day, Jacinta does what she can from her sickbed – “I was shopping on my phone,” she recalls. But will it be enough for the couple to make the top three?
Dream Home screens 7.30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays every week on TVNZ 1, and streams on TVNZ+.
