Survivor fans have been buzzing ever since news broke yesterday that the hugely popular reality series would be coming to New Zealand for the first time.
While TV2 has yet to confirm the Kiwi host who would be stepping into Jeff Probst’s shoes, one candidate has already put her name forward – and it’s none other than The Bachelor NZ star Chrystal Chenery.
The blonde beauty took to Instagram yesterday to announce the news, posting a photo of herself surrounded by Survivor-esque scenery.
“I AM THE NEW CO HOST for “SURVIVOR NZ” WHAT DO YOU THINK?” she captioned the picture.
However, a spokesperson for TVNZ and the production says there is “no truth” to the claim.
The American version of the Survivor series, which follows ordinary people as they compete in a series of challenges while living in extreme conditions, has aired a total of 32 seasons and won multiple awards.
This is the first time the show has come to New Zealand, and Andrew Shaw, TVNZ’s General Manager of Commissioning, Product and Acquisitions, described it as “the big kahuna of reality event television”.
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with Warner Brothers NZ to bring this to life for Kiwis, and see who takes out the ultimate battle of all battles.”
The show is currently taking applications for contestants – but it looks like we’ll have to wait and see who the official host is!
