The 2018 Golden Globe nominations are out – and Kiwi director Jane Campion is up for one of the big awards.
Top of the Lake: China Girl, which Campion directed, is nominated for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
It is the second Top of the Lake series – the first series in 2013 was set and filmed in New Zealand.
China Girl sees the return of Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss as detective Robin Griffin. It also stars Nicole Kidman and Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie.
Kidman also received a Best Actress nomination for her role as Celeste in the hit series Big Little Lies. The show will also go head to head against Top of the Lake in the Best Television Series category.
Nicole took to Facebook to express her gratitude.
“Beyond excited, honored, and thankful to be nominated and in such good company! Thank you, Hollywood Foreign Press Association for recognising Big Little Lies and Top of the Lake: China Girl. Xx Nic” she wrote.
In total Big Little Lies received 6 nominations.
The fantasy/thriller The Shape of Water received the most nominations with 7 including Best Motion Picture, Best Actress and Best Director.
