They were one of the more controversial relationships to come out of the latest season of Married at First Sight Australia. Carly Bowyer and Troy Delmelge’s coupling caused shock waves at the final dinner party, with their respective former partners blindsided by their new romance. But now the reality TV pair have announced their relationship has come to an end.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you that Troy and I have decided to part ways,” Carly wrote in an Instagram post.
“9 months ago, we threw ourselves head first into a relationship, that despite all odds, felt like it was destined to be. We fell in love and experienced some of the most real and amazing moments together that I will never forget.
“We wanted this more than anything and have fought for each other to the end so it’s heartbreaking that we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision that our lives no longer align and we are unable to make this work.
“Troy, my darling, you are something special. You’re my best friend and I will always be here for you. It’s the end of this chapter but it’s not goodbye.”
Troy followed it up with a post of his own.
“Dear fans, it is with great sadness I want to let you know that Carly and I have decided to go our separate ways… I am so so sorry it hasn’t worked out… This is a very painful situation…
“We’ve had an incredible 9 months together and it hurts to walk away from … I knew way back when we met at the first dinner party that Carly was a special girl. She captured my heart in so many ways… She was my rock during the experiment and has been ever since… I’ll treasure the memories forever… Carly, I wish you all the happiness in the world. Xx”
Carly and Troy were the only couple still standing from the latest series – and they weren’t even officially an original match. Tracey Jewel and Sean Thomsen were the other unmatched couple to debut their new relationship at the final dinner party, but they split up back in May.
Tracey then rekindled a relationship with her former boyfriend Patrick Kedmos, but that fizzled out relatively quickly as well after an overseas holiday gone wrong.
It’s not all bad news for the former MAFS cast though – Sarah Roza announced earlier this month that she’s undergoing IVF treatment in the hopes of having a baby on her own.
With the latest series of Married at First Sight New Zealand due to hit our TV screens later this year, here’s hoping they have more of a success rate than the Australian franchise.
