Over Waitangi weekend, 19-year-old Ella Yelich-O’Connor – who split from her boyfriend of three years, photographer James Lowe, prior to Christmas – was spotted enjoying her new Herne Bay neighbourhood with pal, record company executive Justin Warren. Justin is promotions director at Universal Records in Auckland, and has guided the teenage superstar from her first days of success in the industry.

The close pals were seen having a cosy breakfast at popular cafe Dear Jervois, just around the corner from the $3 million villa Lorde has recently purchased.

Starstruck locals exited the cafe giggling excitedly after gawping at the duo, who spent a leisurely hour chatting at the table before heading to Justin’s car, and laughing with each other on the pavement.

An onlooker said, “It was nice to see Lorde looking so relaxed and happy after her break up. She’s looking really happy.”
