What is Elton John: Never Too Late about?

Described as “emotionally charged, intimate and uplifting,” the new documentary coming to Disney+ follows Elton John as he reflects on his life and astonishing 50-year career.

As he prepares for his final concert in North America at Dodger Stadium, the ‘Tiny Dancer’ singer recounts the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, abuse and addiction to become the icon he is today.

And in a special treat for fans, the film will feature a brand new original song. It also includes a look into Elton’s handwritten diaries, the audio tapes from the landmark Rolling Stone interview and footage of John Lennon joining him on stage for three songs after his Thanksgiving 1974 Madison Square Garden show.

The documentary has been directed by American filmmaker and documentarian R.J. Cutler and Canadian-British filmmaker (and Elton’s husband) David Furnish. It doesn’t get much more up close and personal than that. If you loved the movie Rocketman starring Taron Edgerton, you’re in for another treat with this one.

Is there an official trailer for Elton John, Never Too Late?

There sure is. Check it out below.

Where can we watch Elton John: Never Too Late in New Zealand?

While some lucky film buffs have already been served a screening of the documentary at the New York Film Festival – with a surprise performance from the singer himself, no less – New Zealanders have to wait just a little longer to see it. The original documentary premieres December 13 on Disney +. Subscribe here.
